Standard Manufacturing Ltd (SML), operating as Standard UG, is Uganda’s largest recycler of PET plastic bottles. Founded in 2012, we operate a 4-acre recycling facility in Senge Estates, Busiro, Wakiso District near Kampala, and export recycled materials to more than 15 countries.
As of 2026, we recycle around 10,000 tonnes of PET bottles per year — more than 500 million individual bottles — plus additional HDPE and PP plastics. Our two hot-washing lines have a combined capacity of about 1,000 tonnes per month.
Hot-washed PET flakes in clear/natural, clear–light blue, green and brown (fibre-grade and AAA-grade), HDPE blow-moulding regrind in white, black and yellow, PP injection regrind in five colours, and mixed-colour caps regrind. Flakes are washed at 85–90 °C; typical IV 0.70–0.80 dL/g (fibre) or ≥0.78 dL/g (AAA grade). Full details on the products page.

Sedex member (SMETA ethical audit platform), NEMA certified (Uganda’s National Environment Management Authority), and completing RecyClass certification (EN 15343 recycled-material traceability). A certificate of analysis accompanies every lot.
As of 2026: 300+ direct jobs at the Wakiso facility and up to 2,000 indirect livelihoods through collection, logistics and supply across Uganda.
